Milk White Throat - Under Duress

SHOT IN JUNE, 2015 // CANON 5D MARK III

Filmed in Brighton over the course of one day, this video for Milk White Throat was a real challenge but lots of fun to make. Our location was set within an incredible shop/art exhibition just in the North Lane Indoor Market in Trafalgar Arches, a little way down the hill from Brighton Train Station. The strange, quirky and beautiful exhibits there we used to dress our set, and with some brilliant production design from art director, Sam Taylor, we managed to create a really gothic, anti-consumerist atmosphere that matched the tone and message of the song. Our main references for this were videos like Nine Inch Nails' 'Closer', and Perfect Circle's 'Judith', both directed by David Fincher, and I think we got very close to that.

Milk White Throat are an eclectic, heavy rock band based in Brighton; their music is raw and hard-hitting, and we wanted to produce a video with an aesthetic that really matched up to that. The sepia-tone, strong backlighting and grimy post-production by editor/animator and colourist, Daniel Hawkins, all helped add to this feeling.
